Stories for Telling

I have a background in oral storytelling. For four years I ran LANES, the League for the Advancement of New England Storytelling, a member organization that promotes storytelling (www.lanes.org). The ability of going up in front of an audience without a script, except what is in my head, is an important component of my creative work. Here is a selection of my favorite original short stories for storytelling which draw upon rich veins of folklore.

The Magistrate's Daughter/A Peasant's Story

A two part story which views the encounter between an Imperial Chinese magistrate and a common peasant through two markedly different points of view.

Little Hood

Little Red Riding Hood as viewed through Native American folklore tradition.

Mother Moon and the Tears of Joy

A parable about wisdom and emotion.
