Tutoring most anywhere in California's East Bay Area (Berkeley, Oakland, etc.)Having difficulties understanding what is going on in one of your courses? Does it always seem like the important points are slipping you by? Very often difficult subjects are made more difficult due to a lack of individual attention. You might have only a few conceptual mistakes that are derailing the whole train. Having someone guide you through problem-solving can help the material sink in for keeps. This is where tutoring can really pay off. I tutor any level of mathematics and computer science, and all parts of the SAT. I can help you really get it. I explain things in ways tailored to how you think. I teach for understanding and focus on concepts rather than mechanics. I have 7+ years experience as an independent high-school mathematics teacher and tutor. I have taught courses up to and beyond AP Calculus and AP Statistics. I also have experience teaching SAT prep courses, including the SAT essay section. I have a BA in Mathematics from Reed, a BS in Computer Science from Caltech, and an MS in Computer Science from MIT, and I can still talk to folks. I love teaching but am currently working on a PhD in Mathematics Education in order to position myself to help improve education in general. I live in Berkeley, CA, and can meet at any locale in the general vicinity. I can tutor an hour or more, your choice, although at least eighty minutes is recommended. I can tutor any level of student up to and including college. And if someone uses my services and says you referred them to me, even if they only try a single hour, you get your next session half off! Rates and further details are here.
